Joining - how to become a library member


The library is open for all NSW RFS members. Membership is free.

To become a library member, please email the library with the following details:

  • Name
  • Brigade and position
  • Local FCC or District Office
  • Postal Address
  • Phone number
  • Email


Upon request, the Library may also loan material to researchers, students, schools and childcare centres and the wider community.

Conditions of membership


As a member of the NSW Rural Fire Service library, it is asked that you please:

  • return all material by the due date
  • inform the library of changes to your contact details
  • understand that your library membership may be suspended if items are overdue and your brigade contacted.



Borrowing from the library


Search for your book(s) using the library catalogue. 
Request a loan by either:


Library items will be mailed to your nominated postal address 

Loan period

Book loans are available for five weeks. Loans may be renewed upon request.

Loan returns


The borrower is responsible for returning the loans by their due date to the NSW RFS Library
Email notices are sent to remind you when your loan is due.
NSW RFS members may return their books via the mail at their District Office - please package and address the package for return to the library beforehand.
